Trajectum Lumen

Trajectum Lumen is a free light-art walk that winds its way through Utrecht city centre. After sunset this special walking route takes you past the most beautifully illuminated spots in the city. The project features 15 works of light art by Dutch and foreign artists and students at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, and is visible from sunset until midnight every night.

The Dom Tower is the centrepiece of this project. The stunningly illuminated lantern is like a beacon at the heart of the city. The light installation was designed by the London-based light-art collective Speirs + Major, and is titled 'In lumine tuo...'.

You can follow the walk 365 nights a year using a free route map (available at various places including the Tourist Information Centre) and a trail of light drops in the ground, or you can see it with a guide. Every Saturday, there is a 1.5-hour Trajectum Lumen tour, with an experienced guide taking you past all the installations on the route.
